“Starting Over Isn’t a Moment — It’s a Thousand Tiny Decisions”

We think of starting over like a single moment. A clean slate. But it’s not. It’s dishes. Bills. Saying yes when you’re scared. And Montana mornings that feel too quiet.
People say “fresh start” like it’s something bright and exciting. Like it smells like lemons and possibility. But truthfully? Starting over felt more like grief in my throat and mud on my boots.
After losing Kevin, I thought there’d be some big turning point. A line in the sand between “before” and “after. "But there’s no grand moment.
Just a thousand tiny ones:
👉🏼Paying a bill I used to hand to him
👉🏼Hooking up the trailer alone
👉🏼Choosing to drink my Happy Juice instead of something stronger
👉🏼Writing this blog instead of disappearing again
And maybe that’s what healing is — not a big comeback, but a quiet collection of brave, ordinary choices.
If you’re in the thick of it, friend, you’re not behind. You’re rebuilding. And that counts!
